VIDEO: Twins Set MLB History With 200th Home Run Before August 1 as Max Kepler Goes Yard
By Karl Rasmussen
Not even the Twins could have anticipated this type of power from their lineup. Minnesota has been red-hot at the dish all year long, and they just set an incredible record. The Twins became the first team in league history to reach the 200 home run threshold before August 1.
This just goes to show how significant the long ball is in today's game. The Twins hold one of the best records in baseball, largely due to their surging offense, and clearly the home run has played a big part in their success.
Max Kepler ripped his 27th homer, a career high, to give the Twins their 200th of the year. He, along with other members of the lineup, including Nelson Cruz who homered thrice on Thursday, have been punishing opposing pitchers this year.
Juiced balls or not, this record is pretty impressive.
