VIDEO: UNC Got Absolutely Screwed by Refs on Final Drive of Game in Loss to Wake Forest
By Chris Pyo
It seems like the NFL is sending their refs down to the NCAA just for them to figure out how they can screw up their calls even more creatively. At least the refs are getting their somersaults in. UNC football fans, this was definitely a tough pill to swallow after the Tar Heels weren't give one final play when they 100% should have had one.
The replay clearly shows that UNC running back Michael Carter stepped out of bounds with one second remaining on the clock. For whatever reason, the referee motioned to keep the clock running, and time ran out, giving Wake the win. Crazier things have happened in sports than a 40-yard Hail Mary pass on the last second of the game, but in this instance, we'll never know.
As you can see, the Tar Heels lost to Wake Forest 24-18, leaving them at 2-1 on the season, while Wake moved to 3-0. How this didn't get more attention, we have no idea.
