VIDEO: Vikings Crowd Gives Adrian Peterson Standing Ovation After Moving up on All-Time Rushing List
By Scott Rogust
Thursday night was a special one for Adrian Peterson. As a member of the Washington Redskins, this was Peterson's first return to Minnesota following his departure back in 2017. With a bit of vengeance on his mind towards the Vikings, "AD" put on a show against his former team. In the third quarter, Peterson officially passed legendary Pittsburgh Steelers rusher Jerome Bettis to reach sixth place on the all-time rushing list. Vikings fans in attendance at US Bank Stadium showed massive love for their former running back, as they gave him a standing ovation. Peterson, with a huge smile on his face, acknowledged the crowd by kissing his hand and waving.
That's mutual love right there.
Peterson rushed for 76 yards on 14 carries, officially putting him at 13,701 rushing yards all-time. He now trails Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, Frank Gore, and Curtis Martin respectively.
What better way to make history for Adrian Peterson by doing it at a place he called home for ten years.
