VIDEO: Vikings' Harrison Smith Hit With Weak Holding Call on Jason Witten to Extend Dallas Drive
By Adam Weinrib
The Dallas Cowboys have a potent offense, a few magic-makers in Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper, and a swarming defense, in big moments. The least the refs could do is try to keep the rest of the playing field even. Alas, the Minnesota Vikings saw a monster third-down sack undone Sunday night with this ticky-tack holding call against Harrison Smith, extending Dallas' drive, which ultimately resulted in three points.
Usually, we'd ask something like, "Fair or foul? You make the call!" but, uh...any one of you with eyes embedded in your skull would make the proper call here.
Can't the refs use context clues here? Why would Smith, one of the best safeties in the game, ever feel the need to hold the man who was an announcer 10 months ago?
Following this drive, Dallas made it a 28-24 game, but it wouldn't be quite that close without Jerry's zebras.
