VIDEO: Washington State Retires Klay Thompson's Number at Beasley Coliseum
By Alex Coffman
It's only fitting that a three-time NBA champion is honored at the school where his basketball journey began. Klay Thompson was commemorated by his alma mater with his jersey being retired in the rafters of the Beasley Coliseum, home of his Washington State Cougars.
The five-time All Star will forever be remembered in the Bay Area, but Pullman gave him a platform to hone his craft and helped him become the prolific shooter he is today.
Thompson's time as a Cougar was spectacular. He was a two-time All-Pac-12 player and was able to maintain a 43% field goal percentage his entire career while averaging 17.9 points, eventually being picked in the first round by the Warriors in 2011.
Thompson, still on the mend from the torn ACL he suffered in last year's NBA Finals, was able to be in attendance while his number was immortalized by his alma mater, in what was a truly special moment.
