VIDEO: Watch Bruins' David Pastrnak Ice Win Over Blues With Late Goal to Force Game 7
By Scott Rogust
In case you didn't learn from watching baseball and football in the past calendar year, you can never count out Boston. Already facing a 3-1 lead in the third period, Bruins winger David Pastrnak iced Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final with a late, uncontested goal past Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington to make it a 4-1 game.
But that wasn't all. Boston's broken-jawed defenseman Zdeno Chara scored an empty net goal to extend the lead to 5-1.
The Bruins got things going early, as Brad Marchand scored a first-period powerplay goal to give Boston a 1-0 lead.
However, the story of the game was the constant pressure placed on Boston by the Blues, as goaltender Tuukka Rask had to make ridiculous saves to maintain their lead. Rask recorded 25-of-26 shot attempts from the Blues, continuing his dominant streak in elimination games.
Boston had two dagger goals in the third period, scored by Brandon Carlo and Karlson Kuhlman. Blues center Ryan O'Reilly would score the only goal from St. Louis on a wrist shot, where the puck just squeaked past Rask to count.
It all comes down to Game 7 on Wednesday night. Will the St. Louis Blues make history by hoisting Lord Stanley's Cup for the first time in franchise history? Or will the Bruins complete the Boston trifecta, much to the chagrin of the entire nation?
