VIDEO: Watch Cardinals Tie MLB Record for Extra-Base Hits in an Inning as They Dismantle the Pirates
By Scott Rogust

Apparently all it took for the St. Louis Cardinals to gain ground in the NL Central was to face the Pittsburgh Pirates. Winning the first two games of the series, the Cardinals had some fun at the Pirates' expense on Wednesday. In the second inning, St. Louis notched seven extra-base hits off Pittsburgh starting pitcher Jordan Lyles. Slugger Paul Goldschmidt would follow up with a two-run homer to officially tie the MLB record for most extra-base hits in an inning with eight.

Earlier on in the inning, rookie catcher Andrew Knizner realized a dream, as he notched his first career home run against Pittsburgh.
The Cardinals will look back on this day with a huge smile on their face, while the Pirates will change the proverbial channel.
