The United States Women's National Team celebrated their fourth-ever World Cup victory in style, taking over the streets in a traditional ticker tape parade in New York City Wednesday. Multiple members of the team spoke at City Hall about their grand accomplishment, but the most important speech came from Golden Boot and Golden Ball winner Megan Rapinoe-- and to say it was a strong one is an understatement.

The international superstar has been outspoken about social injustices in the United States, and has been notably critical of President Donald Trump. She spoke about how there was so much diversity on the USWNT, and how proud she was to be a co-captain of the team. Rapinoe finished her speech by challenging the nation to be better, show love, and spend more time listening to those that are different than ourselves.
In such a divisive time in our nation, Rapinoe used her platform in New York City to spread a message of unity. And she's surely left her mark in doing so.
