VIDEO: Watch Mets Introduce Carlos Beltran as Team's Next Manager
After an intensive managerial search, the New York Mets finally decided who the best man for the job was. On Friday, they officially hired Carlos Beltran to replace Mickey Callaway. Beltarn, a former nine-time All-Star, is now getting his first shot at managing. This has all been somewhat unbelievable for Mets fans considering he just played for them eight years ago. But after getting introduced on Monday, it's all starting to feel very real. Have a look as Beltran re-dons the Mets uniform and is welcomed back into the wings at Citi Field.
Beltran will once again wear the No. 15 jersey with the Mets as he embarks on his first campaign as a skipper and becomes the first Latino manager of any New York sports team.
This move by the Mets has the potential to revive the franchise, possibly bringing them back to their winning ways after many failures over the past two decades.
Beltran has no managerial experience whatsoever, but the organization trusts his baseball knowledge will result in winning. There's also a feeling that he will be a players' manager, and that he can maximize the potential of the talented roster in Flushing.
With Callaway out of the mix, it's officially time for Beltran to prove he can bring the Mets back to the postseason.
