VIDEO: Watch Phillies Destroy Dodgers' Bullpen for 4 Runs and Take the Lead
By Parker White
This could very well be the kind of game that gets this Philadelphia Phillies team heading in the right direction to a postseason berth. Down 5-3 in the eighth inning to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the top of the Phillies order took advantage of a leaky Dodger bullpen and scored four runs to take the lead.
After Adam Haseley and Roman Quinn reached base via a hit-by-pitch and walk, respectively, Jean Segura came through with one out in the inning and threaded a ground ball up the middle to drive in the first run of the inning.
Joe Kelly came in to face Bryce Harper, but he was no match as he hung a breaking ball that Harper thumped to the right-center field gap, driving in two runs and tying the ballgame.
After Harper's hustle double and enthusiasm after his big knock, Rhys Hoskins finished off the rally with a go-ahead two-run single down the first base line.
Kelly got ahead of both Harper and Hoskins, but he was unable to finish them off and prevent a Phillies rally that led to a two-run lead.
You can never count out this Dodgers offense, but it's hard to win games when you can't trust your bullpen, which Los Angeles has to fix if they want to win the Fall Classic.
