By Sean Facey

The White Sox may not be headed to the postseason, but that doesn't mean they don't have anything to celebrate here at the end of the season. Tim Anderson has had one fantastic season, and with the batting title well in hand, Chicago's standout shortstop exited game 162 early to a standing ovation.

Even after going 0-for-2 in the game, Anderson finished with a cool .335 batting average, well ahead of his closest active competitor in DJ LeMahieu.
It's a well-deserved reception for the 26-year-old shortstop. After spending the first few years of his career struggling at the plate, he pieced together a breakout campaign in 2019, finishing with career-highs in average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage, and absolutely gaining strength as the year droned on.

Hopefully it's only the beginning for Anderson and the White Sox. 2020 holds great promise for the two of them, and it seems like it's just the beginning of an impressive era of baseball in the South Side.
