VIDEO: Wide-Angle View of Carlos Correa Nailing DJ LeMahieu at Plate Makes Play Look Much Tougher
By Scott Rogust

The New York Yankees looked to add more runs on the board in the sixth inning against Justin Verlander and the Houston Astros. With men on first and second and two outs, Brett Gardner laced what was ruled a single off second baseman Jose Altuve. During the bobble, DJ LeMahieu was sent home by third base coach Phil Nevin, but to no avail; he was out by 20 feet. Rally killer. At first look with the initial play, it looked like sending LeMahieu home was a brutally incompetent call. However, after seeing the wide-angle view, the decision carried value.
when you see that ball bounce and everyone looking for it, it get sending him. Its more unlucky that it bounced right to Correa and he executed the play perfectly. pic.twitter.com/PxoJHRRXQH

After further review, it was an incredible play by shortstop Carlos Correa, as the ball deflected off Altuve to his general direction. Correa threw the perfect ball to home to prevent LeMahieu from counting as the go-ahead run.
So don't get too mad at Phil Nevin, Yankees fans.
