Boy, could you imagine the memes if Ramos dropped that ball and the Yankees tied it? Being that close and still finding a way to lose? It would have been relentless. Thank goodness for Mets fans that didn't happen.
In a lost season for New York -- one in which the first-year general manager said to "come get us" before the season started -- a win against its crosstown rival is absolutely one of the high points. Especially a win that had this kind of ending.

The win was more than just comic relief, though -- by holding the Yankees without a home run, it ended New York's streak of 31 consecutive games with a long ball. That in itself is something for the Mets to hang their hats on.
