VIDEO: Yankees Ace Luis Severino Mows Down Batter With 97 MPH Fastball During Double-A Rehab Start
By Karl Rasmussen
The New York Yankees are anxiously awaiting the return of ace Luis Severino amid the team's stretch run through September. Well, the 25-year-old was with Double-A Trenton making what could be his final rehab start before his return to the Bronx, and he looked sharp. To record his final out of the evening, Severino sat down his opponent with some blistering 97 mph heat.
Severino was capped at three innings on the night. During his brief start, Sevy struck out five and was in the strike zone on 33-of-44 pitches. He allowed four hits and one run which came via a solo shot.
After a sensational 2018 campaign that saw the right-hander whiff 220 in 191.1 innings, the Yankees will be welcoming him back with open arms, especially given the inconsistency of their starting rotation.
