VIDEO: Yankees' Austin Romine Opens Scoring at Fenway Park With Solo Jack
By Jerry Trotta
The Boston Red Sox were surely motivated to grab a victory on Monday night against the New York Yankees following David Ortiz's long-awaited cameo, as the club legend threw out the first pitch in his first public appearance since being shot in the Dominican Republic earlier this year. However, Boston's bats have yet to wake up against James Paxton, and it was Austin Romine who eventually opened up the scoring, parking an Eduardo Rodriguez fastball just over the right field fence near the Pesky Pole in the fifth inning to give the Pinstripes the 1-0 lead.
You might consider it a cheap one, but a home run is a home run, folks, no matter how far the ball travels. Kudos to Romine for guiding that outside heater into the right field bleachers.
That's quality big league hitting.
