VIDEO: Yankees Backup Catcher Austin Romine Hits Surprise Game-Tying Home Run Off Ryan Pressly
By Sean Facey
The unlikeliest of heroes stepped up for the Yankees when they needed him most. Down 5-4 in the seventh inning against one of the best relievers in the game in Ryan Pressly, Austin Romine poked a home run into the right field bleachers to tie the game 5-5.
The ball snuck over the short porch and traveled just 351 feet.
But it counts all the same, and it was smoked off of the bat anyway. The frozen rope homer had a 105.8 mph exit velocity but just a 20 degree launch angle. It was just the fourth barreled ball Pressly has allowed all year, and it couldn't have come at a better time for New York.
