Brett Gardner has not slowed down with age, in fact, the 36-year-old just tied his career high with his 21st home run of the season. Down 4-0 against the Red Sox, Gardner was able to get some life pumped into the Yankees offense, hammering a solo shot over the short right-field wall at Fenway Park.
Gardner was not fooled at all on the 2-1 count and pulled the pitch out to right field. With a few weeks left to play in the regular season, Gardy could surpass his career best by the year's end.
The Red Sox are running a bullpen game, as Andrew Cashner was the team's fourth pitcher and it's only the fifth inning.
