VIDEO: Yankees Cap Off Game 1 in London With Sensational Double Play to Beat Red Sox
By Karl Rasmussen
The Yankees and Red Sox traveled across the pond for a two-game set at London Stadium, and if Game 1 was anything to go off of, Game 2 should be a complete doozy. The 17-13 final score was capped off in style, as the Yanks sealed the deal with an impressive double play to record the final two outs of the ball game.
Aroldis Chapman was one of the few pitchers to leave the game unscathed, with a little help from the flashy glove of Didi Gregorius who made an impressive play at shortstop to begin the game-ending double play.
A quick flip to Gleyber Torres, who fired the ball over to first base and that was all she wrote.
In a game that saw 30 combined runs come across the plate, and a total of 16 pitchers take the mound, it's almost a shock that the Red Sox didn't tie the game up in the bottom of the ninth.
But fortunately, the Yanks' star closer was able to get the job done, and he may be called upon again on Sunday as both teams are working with seriously depleted bullpens.
The slugfest lasted roughly five hours, and fans who stayed until the end were treated with a stellar double play to send them on their way.
