VIDEO: Yasiel Puig's Postgame Comments After Win Over Brewers Are a Clear Shot at the Cubs
By Brendan Azoff
The Reds beat the Brewers 5-4 in extra innings on Tuesday thanks to Yasiel Puig's heads-up base running in the bottom of the 11th inning. When interviewed after the game, Puig talked about his own play and personality-- and delivered a shot at the division rival Cubs in the process.
Puig is obviously referring to an incident that occurred against the Cubs in which Pedro Strop hit him with a pitch, leading to a benches-clearing episode. After that game, Strop called Puig's actions "stupid," as the reliever did not like the fact that Puig insisted the HBP must have been intentional.
The Reds outfielder now used the same word to compliment himself, noting that "stupid things work for myself and work for the team." Puig clearly is the gift that keeps on giving, as his outlandish personality and extravagant behavior on the field make him a must-watch character every time he steps on a baseball field.
