VIDEO: Zack Greinke Removes Himself From Game After Experiencing Discomfort and Heads for MRI
By Adam Godfrey

Zack Greinke pitched 7.2 innings of the Arizona Diamondbacks' game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, and they were mostly stress-free...until he took himself out of the game due to discomfort, later revealed as abdominal tightness. Greinke had pitched 7+ innings without giving up a run before exiting the game.

Greinke was in the middle of an absolute gem of a game against the Pirates, giving up only four hits and whiffing five.
He'll now head to the MRI machine, though he's hoping it's only a matter of days, not weeks.
Zack Greinke, who missed 6 weeks two years ago with a strained oblique muscle, says he believes this abdominal strain is a lighter injury and hopes he’s out closer to 6 days than 6 weeks. #Dbacks

Greinke was in visible pain, and clearly did not want to risk any worse of an injury by staying on the mound for a game that was clearly already won.
The Diamondbacks were up 8-0 at the time Greinke exited the game.

Greinke will have an MRI on his abdominal tightness on Friday, with hopefully no long-term injuries to be reported afterwards.
