VIDEO: Zack Greinke's Filthy Slow Curveball Was Unhittable Against the Blue Jays
By Karl Rasmussen
Zack Greinke is one of the most esteemed hurlers in all of baseball, having dominated MLB mounds since 2004. One of the filthiest pitches in his repertoire is his slow curveball, and he decided to lean heavily upon it Saturday against the Blue Jays. Toronto was unable to track the ridiculous breaking pitch, and Greinke had several of his opponents looking downright foolish.
Look at the confused Toronto batters whiff time and time again as Greinke's sub-70 mph breaking pitch falls of a cliff right before it reaches the zone. What appears to be a meatball sub floating right towards the heart of the plate transforms before batters eyes' into a devastating pitch near the dirt.
Sorry Blue Jays fans, but the team had absolutely no chance against Greinke when he's controlling his pitches like that. He tossed 6 scoreless frames, striking out 7 batters on the afternoon.
