VIDEO: Zdeno Chara Seen Skating on the Ice Before Game 5
By Joey Mauceri
After failing to secure a victory in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals, the Bruins received news that made things look somewhat bleak for Game 5, when it was reported that star defenseman Zdeno Chara suffered a broken jaw and the team was preparing to play without him. Incredibly, with just hours left before the puck drops for Game 5 tonight, Chara was seen on the ice handling the puck with the team.
Now that is one tough man.
According to Bruins forward Brad Marchand, Chara actually wanted to return to action in Game 4 after suffering the injury, but was prevented from doing so by team doctors. Marchand called Chara "an absolute warrior", and it's hard to disagree with that.
If the giant on skates is good to go in Game 5, it will certainly provide a huge physical boost for a Bruins squad that is looking to win a pivotal, perhaps series-deciding game at TD Garden.
