The Vikings Would Be Out of Their Minds to Give Dalvin Cook a New Contract This Offseason

When healthy, Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook can easily be considered one of the top backs in the NFC. However, his durability has been questioned over his first three years in the league.
Yet, after appearing in only 29 games since 2017, Cook is still eyeing a major payday from this team and is considering holding out if he doesn't get his way? That's what NFL insider Tom Pelissero believes, and if that's the case, the Vikings shouldn't budge whatsoever.
“If Dalvin Cook does not have an extension I definitely wouldn’t expect him to be around the facility this spring.”

Cook can't actually think this is going to help his case. After his first big year, he thinks the Vikings front office is just going to just fall over for his demands? No chance.
After playing in four games his rookie year, then 11 in 2018, Cook started 14 games this past season and recorded 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns. He added 53 catches and 519 yards through the air, leading to Pro Bowl honors.
There's no denying he had a stellar 2019, but the thought of him holding out of camp to get top RB kind of money is absurd. He's had one good year. A holdout can't happen, especially with the team thinking about extending him.

If Cook were smart, he'd show up early for the first day of camp and remind the Vikings what they'd be missing if he wasn't on the field come Week 1. Anything else would be a major mistake for the young back.
