3 Draft Day Trade Scenarios Vikings Should Consider

The Minnesota Vikings went from one of the most complete rosters in all of football to one of the most top-heavy in just one offseason, as they suffered somewhat of a mass exodus on the defensive side of the ball and parted ways with wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

Luckily, the Vikings have 11 picks in the 2020 NFL Draft to rehab that roster, including two in the first round. There are a select few players who could help the Vikings maintain their status as contenders in the NFC North.

3. Trade Down and Stockpile Picks to Use on Defensive Backs

Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander both left for the Cincinnati Bengals in free agency, and Anthony Harris might be days away from being traded. Zimmer, a defensive coach who made his name as a defensive backs coach, knows the importance of a tight-knit unit on the back end. This draft isn't as talented at the top when it comes to defensive backs, but Day 2 is littered with potential steals, and Minnesota should try to snatch up a whole new secondary in those rounds.

2. Trade up From No. 22 and Land an Elite Pass Rusher

Ohio State's Chase Young is in a galaxy all his own when it comes to edge rushers this draft, and the second tier after him is made up predominantly of LSU's K'Lavon Chaisson and Iowa's AJ Epenesa. One of those two might be available at pick No. 22, but Minnesota shouldn't count on it. They have more than enough capital to move up to the middle of the first round, and they might have to if they want to replace Everson Griffen in a pretty efficient fashion.

1. Trade up for Jerry Jeudy or CeeDee Lamb

Minnesota needs a wide receiver, and there are three ways they can go about adding more perimeter talent. They can trade down and feast during the middle rounds, stay pat and select whomever falls to them, or get aggressive and move for one of the big guns. Option No. 3, which could land them Jerry Jeudy or CeeDee Lamb if they give up enough, could help the offense continue to roll merrily along, as both of these future stars are destined to be perennial Pro Bowlers.
