This Vikings-Eagles Trade for Alshon Jeffery Would Ruin Bears Fans' Lives

The Minnesota Vikings are entering the latter part of an offseason spent slicing money off the cap with a serious deficiency at wideout and defensive back, and the draft can only do so much to soothe these ills.

Sure, the Vikes are likely to use their first-round pick on a speedy wideout -- in fact, we recommend that remedy. But that won't take care of everything.

To add a trusted veteran presence to the WR corps, Minnesota should also go shopping for a star who's worn out his welcome in his current home: Alshon Jeffery. The revenge factor involved in plucking away a former Bear wouldn't hurt, either.

Jeffery's last taste of vengeance against his former team was the Double Doink game, and he clearly enjoyed it quite a bit. Why not give him that motivation at least twice a year?

All it should take to pry Jeffery away from Howie Roseman is a mid-round pick (fourth) and a contract to even out his cap hit. If the Vikes gave away Pat Elflein and drafted his replacement (Elflein's production does not indicate he's irreplaceable), that should help -- Philly just lost their OL depth piece known colloquially as Big V to free agency, and could use a reinforcement of any kind.

If Minnesota acquired Jeffery, they'd then move into contract restructuring mode in order to optimize everything, but that shouldn't be terribly difficult.

What do you say, Vikings fans? Would you take a chance on a disgruntled former Bear who loves to make his ex-team feel pain?
