Vikings Owner’s Comment on Mike Zimmer’s Future Effectively Shuts Down Cowboys Rumors

The Minnesota Vikings and head coach Mike Zimmer, who remains under contract through next season, are back in the playoffs this year. Yet that did not stop rumors from emerging this week that the Dallas Cowboys may be interested in Zimmer as a replacement for Jason Garrett.
Rumors have floated about Zimmer's job not being totally safe, but for now, some recent comments from Vikings owner Mark Wilf can stop any speculation of the coach leaving Minneapolis.
#Vikings owner Mark Wilf statement on Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman:

"We value Mike and Rick’s leadership and we have every intent of Mike continuing as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings and Rick leading our football operations, next year and beyond.”
Yes, an owner's mind can change after a bad playoff loss or even due to simply wanting to hire someone else. All fans have to go off is Wilf's word, for better or worse, and it appears he doesn't want to make any major changes with his head coach or general manager.
Four different outlets have tossed out Mike Zimmer as an option for the Cowboys.

Do you think that’s a coincidence? Or do you think where there is smoke there is fire? https://t.co/IKoIYK2EzH
It would be hard to move on from Zimmer if the Vikings take down the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome. Though a losing effort may have the owner thinking twice about his public support for the 63-year-old.
