VIDEO: Vikings Pay Tribute to the Late Tarvaris Jackson With Compilation of Highlights
By Scott Rogust
The NFL world awoke on Monday morning to the terrible news of former quarterback Tarvaris Jackson tragically passing away in a car accident in his native Alabama at the young age of 36. The dual-threat QB never really panned out as a starter, but he served as an admirable backup and had his share of spirited moments. With tributes flowing in from his former teammates, the Minnesota Vikings stepped things up by posting a highlight video of Jackson's career in the Twin Cities.
Beautifully done by the Vikings.
Minnesota selected Jackson in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft, and he flashed potential with his arm as well as his legs. In his five seasons with the team, Jackson compiled a 10-10 record as a starter, completing 58.7% of his passes for 3,884 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 22 interceptions. Additionally, T-Jack rushed for 535 yards and four touchdowns on 119 carries.
While he was relegated to the bench in favor of Brett Favre, Jackson played a role in the team's playoff run in 2008, which ended with their elimination in the NFC Wild Card by the Philadelphia Eagles.
No matter the end result, the Vikings thought highly of Jackson and like the rest of the football world, are saddened to see him taken from us so soon.
