The second-year running back was granted probation on a fifth-degree drug possession charge back in May after a January arrest for possession of marijuana.
Thomas, 23, was an undrafted rookie free agent whom the Vikings decided to pick up a year ago. He appeared in five games last year, logging 8 attempts for 30 yards, 23 of which game on one carry. He also pulled in two receptions on four targets for 21 yards and played a small role on special teams.

He was a serviceable running back in college, appearing in 20 games for Auburn and totaling 705 yards from scrimmage, 475 of which came on the ground. He transferred to Jacksonville State after his sophomore year.
Thomas will be allowed to participate in training camp and preseason before serving his three-game suspension to start the regular season campaign.
