Vikings Release Former First-Round Pick Josh Doctson and Sign LB Cameron Smith to 53-Man Roster
Josh Doctson's time with the Minnesota Vikings sure didn't last long. A former first-round pick of the Washington Redskins, Doctson joined Minnesota this year hoping to get his career back on track.
However, after appearing in only one game with the Vikes, Minnesota decided to part ways with him on Tuesday morning.
For Doctson, his time with the Vikings couldn't have gone much worse. He appeared in only one game for the team and was placed on Injured Reserve in early September due to a hamstring injury.
Last season, he hauled in 44 balls for a career-high 532 yards. Entering his fourth year in the NFL, the 6-2, 205-pound speedster had high hopes to remind fans everywhere why the Redskins used a first-rounder on him. That simply did not happen.
This is certainly another setback for Doctson, who will now hope to suit up for a third NFL team in his young professional career. We'll see if an organization decides to take a chance on him, or whether he'll officially become the latest in a long line of 'Skins draft busts.
