Vikings Reportedly Looking to Trade Former 1st-Round Pick WR Laquon Treadwell
By Jerry Trotta
Remember how imposing Laquon Treadwell was during his days at Ole Miss? In three seasons with the Rebels, the young wideout hauled in 202 passes for 2393 yards yards and 21 touchdowns. So, you can understand why the Minnesota Vikings (lacking receivers at the time) took a chance on him at No.23 overall back in 2016.
However, the 24-year-old has done anything but live up to that billing and the Vikings are reportedly looking to cut ties with the former first-rounder.
Dov Kleiman couldn't have said it much better: Laquon is a bust. He's appeared in 40 games over three seasons, during which he grabbed 56 passes for 517 yards and one touchdown. Folks, we don't have to tell you how lifeless those numbers are.
Not to mention that of those 40 cameos, he started just 15.
As we know, Minny is pretty much loaded at the starting WR position, boasting the likes of emerging studs Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. Further, second-year pass-catcher Chad Beebe has continued to impress throughout camp and the preseason and look poised to grab hold of the No. 3 duties.
Given Treadwell's lack of production, the Vikings won't get much value in return for him. However, there's always teams looking for additional wideouts this close to the regular season. We presume the former college star will have a market, even if it is limited.
