Vikings Reportedly Trade 2020 Fifth-Round Pick for Ravens Kicker Kaare Vedvik
By Jerry Trotta
Early Sunday morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that several undisclosed teams had inquired about Ravens back-up kicker Kaare Vedvik, including two NFC North competitors.
The news led us to believe that the Bears, given last postseason's calamity, would swoop in and scoop up Vedvik's lauded leg. However, the second-year man will reportedly be heading to Minnesota instead, the other rumored destination.
Schefter understands that the Vikings will send a 2020 fifth-round pick back to the Ravens.
The 25-year-old Marshall product was a preseason standout last year, but any chance the Ravens had at offloading him were derailed after he fell victim to a post-game assault in East Baltimore, left bloodied and injured on Aug. 31.
However, the Norwegian was back and better than ever during Baltimore's preseason opener Thursday against the Jaguars. He drilled all four of his field goal attempts, including a 55-yarder, and punted twice for 58 and 53 yards.
Look for Vedvik to jump K Dan Bailey, who was alarmingly erratic in 2018, or punter Matt Wile (or both) in Minny if he continues to impress. What a get for the Vikings.
