Vikings GM Shoots Down Stefon Diggs Trade Rumors

Minnesota Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs made news last week when he deleted everything related to the franchise from his social media accounts.
This immediately led fans to believe Diggs wanted out of Minnesota and the trade rumors began swirling. Vikings GM Rick Spielman came out Tuesday to put an end to such talk for now.
Vikings GM Rick Spielman refutes rumors Stefon Diggs could be on his way out: “There is no reason to anticipate that Stefon Diggs is not going to be a Minnesota Viking.”

This is as close to a declarative statement as Spielman can make given the circumstances. Someone like Spielman may not even look at social media, so he could have been unaware of the rumors in the first place.
Diggs signed an extension before the 2018 season and is under contract through the 2023 league year. He has voiced his problems with the team in the past, but Diggs was signed to be a go-to receiver for Kirk Cousins for years to come.

NFL fans know things can change over the course of an offseason. Spielman said there is no reason to anticipate a trade, thus shutting down the rumors for now.
In the changing landscape of the NFL, however, player empowerment is on the rise. For Diggs, he now holds the cards.
