Vikings Signing Robby Anderson Would Make a Lot of Sense
By Scott Rogust
The Minnesota Vikings made a major splash at the opening of the new league year, trading disgruntled wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills for a bunch of draft picks. Now, their receiving corps consists of Adam Thielen, and, well, that's it.
Considering they have Diggs' deal off the books and gave quarterback Kirk Cousins a contract extension, the Vikings have money to spend. In that case, Minnesota should absolutely sign ex-New York Jets receiver Robby Anderson.
First, we need to address why Anderson still remains on the open market. Many thought he'd command a huge contract considering his reputation as a speedy, deep route receiver. That hasn't been the case, due to his high asking price of $13-14 million per year, and teams are more inclined to taking a receiver in a deep draft class.
With that in mind, that's not to say the Vikings won't take a receiver in the NFL Draft, considering they have two first-round picks following the Diggs trade. However, why not rebuild the receiving corps by bringing in Anderson on a $9-10 million per season offer as well? It's definitely doable.
Minnesota needs to take advantage of Anderson's stagnant market and sign him to a deal.
