This Vikings-Texans Kirk Cousins-Deshaun Watson Trade Could Blow up the League
By Jerry Trotta
Anybody else getting the feeling that Bill O'Brien's inventory of inexplainable decisions, particularly as the makeshift general manager of the Houston Texans, is quietly setting the stage for a blockbuster trade?
O'Brien sanctioning a deal that sent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins could serve as the final straw for quarterback Deshaun Watson. At some point, you have to think that the 24-year-old star will demand a trade.

When he does, the Minnesota Vikings should get the ever-compliant O'Brien on the phone straight away.
No GM in the NFL would ever consider trading a generational talent like Watson, but O'Brien is a rare breed of incompetent. Maybe this time he'll manage to obtain a first round pick...in addition to Vikings signal caller Kirk Cousins, who inexplicably received a fresh contract extension this offseason.
For a player of Watson's caliber, the Texans would also have to demand a first- and third-round draft pick. We'd say that Vikings should cough up two firsts, but the fact that they'd have to contribute a contract extension to Watson makes that a pipe dream for Houston.
Luckily for Minnesota, which is desperately trying to salvage cap space, that extension for the former No. 12 overall pick won't be required until next year when his rookie deal expires.
In theory, the Texans would avoid dolling out big money to a player, albeit a superstar, that has no intention of playing for the team. In return, they'd acquire valuable draft picks and a capable QB in Cousins who could make them a fringe playoff squad in a top-heavy AFC.
As for the Vikings, well, they'd be getting a franchise-altering gunslinger.
It's far from likely, but anything is possible with O'Brien running operations in H-Town.
