Vikings WR Adam Thielen Unlikely to Miss Significant Time With Hamstring Injury
By Parker White
The Minnesota Vikings are finally looking like a team that's capable of throwing the football. However, just as the team is finding its footing within the aerial attack, they've lost one of their key wide receivers.
On Sunday against the Detroit Lions, Adam Thielen exited the game and didn't return because of a hamstring injury. But, after undergoing an MRI, the results show that the injury isn't serious, and the Vikings don't expect Thielen to miss much time, per Tom Pelissero.
It's anticipated that Thielen's ailing hamstring will hold him out from this week's matchup on Thursday night, which makes sense considering the Vikings will be playing on shortened rest.
Fortunately the clash on Thursday is against the one-win Redskins, so the Vikings should be able to earn a victory without the 29-year-old.
Thielen has emerged as the top target for quarterback Kirk Cousins within the Vikings' offense. In 2019, Thielen has 27 receptions for 391 yards and a league-high six touchdown catches. His only catch on Sunday was a 25-yard score, during which he suffered the hamstring knock.
While both Thielen and fellow star wideout Stefon Diggs have voiced their displeasure with the Vikings' passing game this year, it looks like the team has been making an effort to get them more touches.
With Thielen sidelined, Diggs will likely be the go-to target, though defenses will certainly not hesitate to stick him in double coverage.
