Vince Young Memorializes Cedric Benson on Twitter Following Texas Teammate's Death
By Karl Rasmussen
The football world was delivered the tragic news of Cedric Benson's passing on Sunday morning. The former running back died as a result of a motorcycle accident. Ex-college teammate Vince Young posted on Twitter in the hours following Benson's death, showing his remorse and sharing an old video clip of the pair's playing days at Texas.
The clip comes from Texas' Sept. 2004 victory over Arkansas, during which Benson ran for 188 yards and added both a rushing and receiving touchdown.
Benson and Young were teammates in 2003 and 2004 and developed a strong bond during their college tenure. They won the Rose Bowl together in 2004, a season in which the pair combined for 33 rushing touchdowns.
Clearly Young hasn't forgotten what they accomplished together. While he didn't issue a long statement about the loss of his friend, these tweets tell you everything you need to know.
In the Rose Bowl matchup with Michigan, Young scored four rushing touchdowns while Benson picked up 70 yards on the ground in what was his final college game.
Benson joined the NFL as the fourth overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft by the Bears, where he spent three seasons before joining the Cincinnati Bengals. He ended his career after spending the 2012 season with the Green Bay Packers.
