Vince Young's Rose Bowl MVP Trophy Ends up on eBay After Storage Unit Auction
By Michael Luciano
Former Texas legend Vince Young is best known for his performance in a Rose Bowl win against USC that still stands as one of the greatest games in college football history. Unfortunately for Young, he could have to part ways with his MVP trophy from that legendary game, among other memorabilia.
One of Young's storage units was auctioned off for a few thousand dollars after Young failed to pay his fees, and one of the items inside was his Rose Bowl MVP trophy.
Also left in that unit was Young's Manning Award and Maxwell Award, the football from his first ever NFL touchdown pass with the Tennessee Titans, and several helmets from his pro career.
The woman who won the auction for the unit listed each of those items on eBay for $50,000, and said she would be willing to sell them back to Young.
After flaming out as a pro with the Titans, Young has struggled with life after football. He was arrested in February for driving under the influence and was recently fired from his part-time job with Texas athletics in March after poor performances and unexcused absences, with warnings dating back to 2017.
Young's post-Texas career hasn't gone according to plan, and now he stands on the verge of losing some of his most treasured memorabilia. While there's still a chance he'll be able to recoup his valuables, it's going to cost him.
It's safe to assume he's wishing he had just paid the fees on his storage unit.
