By Karl Rasmussen
Blue Jays nation was holding its collective breath after inklings trickled out regarding a possible injury to beloved franchise cornerstone Vladimir Guerrero Jr. After he was removed from Saturday's game with an ailing knee, he underwent an MRI. Fortunately, it looks like he's avoided a serious injury.
The MRI revealed inflammation in the left knee for the 20-year-old, and he downplayed the injury as being "nothing major," per Scott Mitchell of TSN.
While the Blue Jays are far on the outside of the playoff hunt, fans loved the opportunity to witness the future stars of the franchise getting their first licks of MLB action.
The injury to Vlad is concerning, and the Blue Jays should exercise every bit of caution when dealing with the young third baseman, but it's extremely exciting to know that he likely won't be forced to miss much time.
On the season, Guerrero is slashing .274/.345/.464 with 14 home runs, 54 RBI and 37 extra-base hits across 93 games. The second half is where the budding star has really found his stride, posting a .933 OPS with 6 homers and 29 RBI in just 32 games.
Blue Jays fans can rest assured knowing that the future of the organization remains in good health and will likely be back on the field this season.
