Von Miller's Comments on Patrick Mahomes Prove Every Defense is Hopeless Against the Chiefs
By Brady Williams
We can sing the praises of Patrick Mahomes all we want, but nothing speaks greater volumes than opposing defensive stars talking about the Kansas City Chiefs star. Super Bowl MVP titles are great, but the greatest endorsement so far has been given by divisional rival Von Miller of the Denver Broncos.
When the seven-time Pro-Bowler and two-time First Team All-Pro selection was asked about how to stop Mahomes, he said it's not possible.
“Can’t. We’ve just got to score points,” Miller told the Washington Post. “If we’re able to get off the field — you can hold them to a third-down here and there, but that’s on our offense. We’ve got to score on offense because you cannot — it’s not smart to go into the game and say we’re going to hold Patrick Mahomes to no points.”
Miller's been one of the most dominant defensive players of the past decade, but even he can't match what the Chiefs have rolling right now. They have a top player at nearly every position on their offense. Mahomes is the best young quarterback we've seen in ages, and with targets like Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, it's hard to imagine this offense will be slowing down anytime soon.
Oh yeah, and in the draft they selected Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who is a perfect fit for their offense. A stout back who excels in the receiving game was exactly what Mahomes needed to become fully unstoppable. It seems Miller recognizes that, and other defenses should start to accept it too.
