Warriors Acquire Big Man Omari Spellman From Hawks
By Will Fowler
After one season in Atlanta, forward/center Omari Spellman is on his way out of town. Per Shams Charania, he's off to Golden State in exchange for Damian Jones and a second-round pick.
Spellman enjoyed a prominent bench role with Atlanta in his rookie season, playing in 46 games and averaging 5.9 points and 4.2 rebounds. The Villanova product also shot a reasonable 34.4% from beyond the arc.
When on the roster, Damian Jones repped at center for the Warriors, playing in 24 games and starting in 22. The seven-footer averaged 5.4 points and 3.1 rebounds in just over 17 minutes of work per game, but saw his game time significantly limited when DeMarcus Cousins got healthy.
This trade is a win-win-- Golden State gets a versatile big who can stretch the floor, while Atlanta gets a big body under the rim and a draft pick in their back pocket.
