Warriors Deal for Hawks' No. 41 Pick in Effort to Build Draft Capital
By Adam Weinrib

The Dubs are still an elite NBA franchise, and won't be lottery bound any time in the near future.
So, in an effort to best manipulate the draft from their current position, the natural focus at the moment is adding as much capital as possible to the back end.
And who better to consult with to do just that than the Atlanta Hawks, a team positively overflowing with draft picks? The Warriors just nabbed the 41st overall choice to kick off draft morning, giving up very little to do so.
ESPN Sources: Golden State has acquired Atlanta’s No. 41 pick in tonight’s NBA Draft. The cost: $1.3M and a 2024 second-round pick. Atlanta moved No. 44 to Miami yesterday. Hawks have Nos. 8, 10, 17 and 35 tonight. Golden State has Nos. 28, 41 and 58.

The Hawks still have four picks in the top 35, two of which can potentially be bundled to move into the No. 4 spot suddenly owned by the Pelicans, which remains quite up for grabs.
This now gives Golden State a chance to leap slightly higher into the back end of the first if they fancy a certain pro-ready prospect like UNC's Cam Johnson, who can adequately impersonate Klay Thompson's shooting in short stretches next year.
Who might the Warriors draft at No. 28? It appears the Warriors will place a high value on secondary scoring. Still, it is hard to predict how late-draft picks will develop. A look at who might be available at No. 28 https://t.co/GF4Z73c26L

Or they can simply live large with three later picks and stockpile a few potential lottery tickets. As always, the Warriors know what they're doing. What else is new?
