Warriors Need to Feed Quinn Cook if Klay Thompson Can't Play
By Max Scoli
The Golden State Warriors were able to even the series against the Toronto Raptors in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, but the victory came at a price.
The Dubs' five-time NBA All-Star Klay Thompson was forced to leave the contest with a hamstring strain. In times of trouble, Thompson has been a catalyst for the Warriors all season, averaging 21.5 points per game on 46.7% shooting, including over 40% from deep. With Thompson's availability for Game 3 up in the air, along with with the absence of reigning NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant, Golden State will have to look to their bench and rely on their guard depth to keep them afloat while battlin these injury woes.
Enter Quinn Cook.
Cook had a phenomenal game on Sunday against the Raptors, nailing three of five attempts from behind the arc to total nine points, while adding a rebound and a block in just over 21 minutes of action.
The former First Team All-NBA G League honoree stepped up when he was needed. Klay Thompson wasn't in the game to knock down threes and Steph Curry wasn't feeling it. So what did Cook do? He decided to confidently take matters into his own hands when the Splash Brothers couldn't. Because, believe it or not, he has the reps.
Cook won a championship with the Warriors in 2018 after a successful stint with the organization's G League Affiliate, and even won an NCAA National Championship in 2015 as a member of the Duke Blue Devils.
Quinn Cook is a natural winner, and there is no better role player to help this team to the promised land during these bizarrely tough times.
