Warriors Provide Injury Update on Kevon Looney
By Scott Rogust
The Golden State Warriors have been plagued by injuries this season, resorting to putting backups in the starting lineup. One particular Warrior had been combatting a particularly concerning injury, which has prevented him from taking for all but one game this season.
On Wednesday, the Warriors PR team revealed that center Kevon Looney had undergone a "battery of tests" in regards to his nerve-related issue, and an exact timeline for his return will be determined in the next two weeks.
A nerve issue is always worrisome but it seems the test results the team received were encouraging enough to suggest that Looney would be back on the court in "the near future."
Looney was an emerging star for the Warriors, who signed him to a three-year, $15 million contract this past summer. The 23-year-old missed the entire preseason with a hamstring issue.
The center played in Golden State's season opener against the Los Angeles Clippers, where he scored 3 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 10 minutes of action. Looney has not played in a game since the nerve issues popped up.
With Klay Thompson, Steph Curry, and Draymond Green out, and Looney's return still a ways off, things don't figure to improve for the Warriors on the injury front any time soon. The Warriors play nine games over the next two weeks, so they'll have to be without Looney for at least that long, and probably longer.
