A former college football star is facing significant time behind bars.

Former West Virginia Mountaineers and Atlanta Falcons running back Justin Crawford was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to committing a sex act with a 12-year-old girl.

Back in October 2018, Crawford was arrested in Georgia. Written testimony from a police detective maintained that the former running back approached the alleged victim while she was sleeping, then forced her to perform multiple sexual acts.

Originally denying the allegations, Crawford later admitted to his actions, but insisted that the sex acts were the alleged victim's idea.

At the time of his arrest, Crawford was charged with child molestation, sodomy, and enticing a child for indecent purposes. Crawford cut a plea deal with the Muscogee County Court, resulting in the aforementioned 12-year prison sentence, along with 20 years of probation.

During his time at West Virginia, Crawford totaled 2,244 yards and 11 touchdowns in two seasons. He signed on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2018, but failed to make the team. Recently, Crawford played for the Atlanta Legends in the Alliance of American Football, up until the league folded midway through its inaugural season.
