The NBA is likely returning to play on July 31 after a long coronavirus-induced hiatus, and the Los Angeles Lakers finally have a clearer picture as to what their path to another championship could look like.

The Lakers will play out their next eight games on the regular season schedule in order to "tune up", the first of which involves a matchup against James Harden and the Houston Rockets. They face off against the Utah Jazz twice in back-to-back games before facing the defending champion Toronto Raptors. A game against the Pacific Division rival Sacramento Kings will end the regular season for the Lakers.

The Lakers might be a long way from their LA home (wherever they end up), but that should do little to nullify the fact that they should be considered the favorites to take home the NBA title in 2019.

With LeBron once again leading things on both ends of the floor and the continued excellence of Anthony Davis, the Lakers have enough star power to overcome the 3.5 month layoff and lack of home court advantage.

The 2020 NBA playoffs will be unlike any other in NBA history. Perhaps unsurprisingly, however, James and the Lakers once again have one of the best chances at taking home a title.
