White Sox and Rockies Reportedly Emerge as Favorites for Yasiel Puig
By Michael Luciano
Former Dodgers and Reds outfielder Yasiel Puig, who ended the 2019 season with the Cleveland Indians, remains the top available free agent on the market.
His long wait to find a club could be coming to a close very soon, however, as both the Chicago White Sox and Colorado Rockies have emerged as favorites to land him.
Colorado has a hole in the outfield that needs filling. Someone with the range to cover ground in their spacious outfield and the power to mash 25 home runs like Puig would be an ideal signing for them.
The White Sox are expected to start Eloy Jimenez, Nomar Mazara and top prospect Luis Robert in the outfield this campaign, with Edwin Encarnacion as the DH. Adding Puig, though, could be the extra push needed to take down the Twins in the AL Central.
Puig is much too talented to be sitting on his butt at home now that Spring Training has kicked off. While Colorado might make more sense from a baseball perspective than Chicago, both teams could use Puig's services.
