White Sox Working With Dodgers on Potential Joc Pederson Trade

The Los Angeles Dodgers will do whatever it takes to win another World Series title after reaching the Fall Classic in two of the last three seasons.

That includes potentially moving someone like Joc Pederson in the hopes of landing even bigger names, and the Chicago White Sox are reportedly among those listening.

The report, which originated with USA Today's Bob Nightengale, comes amid existing MLB offseason rumors linking the Dodgers to Cleveland's Francisco Lindor.

Trading Pederson is likely motivated by the fact that he is in his final year of arbitration. If he is not in the long-term plans in LA, there is just no real reason to keep him around. He burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2015, earning an All-Star Game appearance, but hasn't been much above league average since then.

Meanwhile, the White Sox are looking like actual future contenders in the American League Central in 2020 and beyond. The Minnesota Twins are the defending champs and the Cleveland Indians may be moving more talent than what is brought in. Meanwhile, the South Siders are in a category by themselves in terms of talent coming up the prospect pipeline.

Adding Pederson won't push the White Sox over the edge of contention, but it would add to the "all-in" mentality the team is looking to embody.

It is easy to forget that the White Sox are in a huge media market given the overwhelming popularity of the crosstown Cubs. The team has been in a rebuilding phase for years, and that may pay off in a big way in 2020. Look for them to remain active this winter.
