Apparently the phrase "defense wins championships" doesn't ring true in the MLB. Yolmer Sanchez is one of the best fielders in baseball, but his lack of production offensively appears to have cost him a spot on the Chicago White Sox 2020 roster.

Sanchez has officially hit the market now that he has cleared waivers, first reported by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. He will have complete control over his next destination.

The 2019 Golden Glove winner is now a free agent, but he shouldn't have too much trouble finding a new home. There are several teams who could benefit from his stellar defensive ability.

In fact, it even sounds like White Sox manager Rick Renteria isn't completely ruling out a reunion between the two parties.

That said, Sanchez's time in Chicago has likely come to an end. It's a shame that he wasn't rewarded for his efforts during a forgettable era in White Sox history, but the analytics surrounding his hitting numbers prevented that from happening.

Hopefully Sanchez lands with a contender. The 27-year old is an incredible infielder and could provide value and depth to a team looking for his services.
