White Sox OF Eloy Jimenez Had NSFW Response When Asked About Potential Switch to DH
By Jackson Thompson
Eloy Jimenez managed to prove himself at the plate in his first big league season, but he struggled on defense at times. Amid the influx of talent to Chicago, there were inklings that the youngster could be shifted to DH.
When asked if he would consider making that move, Jimenez adamantly replied "No, f--- that."
After signing a big-money long term contract last March, Jimenez showcased his commanding presence behind the plate in his rookie year. He mashed 31 home runs with 79 RBIs and a .513 slugging percentage.
His defense left a lot to be desired, and it has been his biggest flaw as a prospect since his time in the minors. He registered -11 DRS and -4.9 UZR in left field last season.
He spent the winter focused on making defensive improvements, and based on his bold reaction to the possibility of shifting to designated hitter, one would hope he can back it up with some improvements in the outfield in 2020.
