Saints WR Austin Carr's Wife Learned She Had COVID-19 Right Before Giving Birth in Truly Scary Moment

In April, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Austin Carr became a father when his wife, Erica, gave birth to a son they named Clive. The journey up to that point, however, was interrupted by a scare that came out of nowhere.
After checking into the hospital, Erica received a mandatory COVID-19 test. Little did she know, it came back positive. She wasn't just carrying a child -- she was carrying the coronavirus.
Austin Carr said he's convinced he had a mild case of coronavirus roughly two weeks before his son was born.

He temporarily lost his senses of taste and smell, which are now known to be other side effects of the virus.
Clive, his son, tested negative.
Luckily, this story has a happy ending. Clive was brought into the world, and both he and his proud papa tested negative for the virus.
All told, however, it's a heck of a ride that this family has been on.
"[W]e feel blessed and thankful for the health care and all the workers who were looking out for us," Carr said, per Mike Triplett of ESPN.
